Maes Emlyn site update

You may have seen the news article on the DCC website , posted last August? Having listened to feedback at the 3 July meeting, and following further meetings with Officers where alternative options were explored, it was decided that this proposal was no longer the best option to pursue. Your views and comments helped achieve this decision. Now you will (hopefully) soon be able to comment on the updated plans for the Maes Emlyn site. A pre-planning consultation for the new development was to have been published in the autumn where DCC plan for residents to have another opportunity to share their views on the new plans. We've asked DCC for any update.

Don't forget tonight's meeting with DCC to discuss their plans for Maes Emlyn!

Hello! Many apologies for not having updated this blog, but we have had computer issues with it, which we thank we have now fixed. Below is a copy of the newsletter that we councillors delivered last month. If you have any further questions today, please email either Justine or Barry directly, as Keith is working away and won't be able to take your question to the meeting. Many thanks for your support and comments. ****** Dear Resident,                                                                                                                          June 2023 Hello again! It’s your Rhyl Town Council (RTC) and Denbighshire County Council (DCC) Councillors.   Although things may appear to have gone very quiet with Maes Emlyn and the plans for its change of use, there will now be a flurry of activity in the coming weeks. You will soon receive through the post a further newsletter from DCC informing you of the date, time and location of the promised formal public meeting.

Excellent turnout from residents to the DCC 'Drop In' session Wednesday 8 March 2023

First of all apologies for not updating this more frequently. But rest assured we have been working on your behalf behind the scenes to raise your concerns about the DCC plans for Maes Emlyn. Again, we would point out that we all agree that being homeless is awful and anything we can do to help reduce the number of homeless folk is welcome. But. It's not just having a plan. Having a plan doesn't mean having the answer. Below is a copy of our newsletter 2, which we delivered to almost 900 households at the start of March. We will post regular updates on here and if we get any answers to the many concerns and questions you have already asked DCC, we will post them here.  If you wish to contact any of us, then our details are also below. Many thanks for showing your support to us, as we strive to do what is best for you, our residents and your area. Denbighshire County Council (DCC) intend to use 24 of the Maes Emlyn flats on a "temporary basis" as accommodation for “people who are looking for homes”. Because this would be a ‘Change of Use’, they have already submitted a Planning application, for which consultation closes on 29 December 2022 and a decision made by 22 January 2023. You may have had a newsletter from DCC informing you of their plans for the Maes Emlyn site, with a link to make comments. The link on their newsletter is not for the above planning application. However, as we have been carrying out our leaflet drop, it is obvious that a lot of residents in the surrounding area are unaware of this plan! We need a full and proper debate and we also need DCC to listen to its residents. Please give a voice to your thoughts. Make a comment on the DCC Planning Portal. Trying to find the correct page is not straight-forward though, so we include a short-cut link that saves you having to search the DCC Planning Porta
